Detectives in the Criminal Investigations Division are responsible for investigating and solving criminal offenses. Garland detectives have a wide choice of assignments, such as Forgery and Fraud, Burglary and Theft, Domestic Violence, Crimes Against Persons, Narcotics and Intelligence investigations. The Warrant Unit also operates within this division.

Crimes Against Persons (CAPERS)
The Crimes Against Persons Unit, commonly referred to as “CAPERS,” is an investigative unit specializing in crimes committed against individuals. These crimes include such offenses as assault, aggravated assault, harassment, kidnapping, murder, suicide, suspicious death investigations, unattended death investigations, police use of deadly force, cruelty to animals, adult robberies, and a host of other crimes.
