A. The Garland Police Department will host a free civil service exam preparation session. The date of the preparation session has not been announced. Please check back for updates or contact the recruiting officer for more information.
If you cannot make the study sessions, or would like to study on your own, search Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble.com or go to Half Price Books or Borders for study guides. Make sure that you look for study guides that focus on language and reading comprehension. There is no math on the civil service exam, nor anything that requires prior police experience or knowledge. It is also helpful to look at books that give advice on test-taking tips in general (how to pick the best answer if you don’t know, etc.).
